<< I'm Seriously Embarrassed | Main | Stupid Can Sometimes Be Cute >>

Do-It-Myself
Mr.Tango is out of town for 2 weeks.  *sniffle*

So what's a girl to do but to design her wedding invitations?  So that's what I've been doing pretty much everyday.  I think I'm DIY'd out.  Thank Jesus I still have 10 months to actually put together everything. Heh.

Anyway!  Here is the basic design of the invitations.  There are a few changes that will happen...but the majority is a done deal.

Enjoy.

The back of the invite holder.  It's laced with satin ribbon, which you really can't tell from the pic. And I made this one a couple of inches too short - the bow will be much prettier on the final ones.

This is the insert.  I have NO clue how to do this.  Right now it's a messy stencil that I can't get the hang of.  See my fingerprints?  That's with me being super careful.  Heh.  Any ideas for this one?

A close-up to the wax seal.  And my fingerprints. Heh.

The layout.  I love the inserts.  And, oh yeah. Hi, I'm Cindy and he's Jeremy. Who knew?

The inserts.  I marked out the "where" because you're all stalkers. Not that I don't like stalkers.

A close-up of my quote.  I lurve it.  It made my future mother-in-law cry.

So that's it.  Anyone want to come over and cut paper or punch holes or lace up ribbon or fold folders or glue pockets or stamp stamps or seal wax?

Just asking.

Very awesome invitations! My wife and I took a DIY approach to our wedding, too, and ended up having a lot of fun with it (and saving a decent chunk of cash). My favorite project was an activity book we created for the reception so people could pass the time before the food was served. It even included a "word search" puzzle full of sarcastic marriage-related phrases like "separate beds," "custody battle," and "trial separation." I think some of the guests thought it was in poor taste, but I say they have no sense of humor. ;) Anyway, you definitely have some beautiful invitations. I especially like the red lace-up look.

Very very nice and super creative.... I just don't have that much TIME!! I have a friend that makes things all the time and I just *HIRED* her to make birthday party invites for my kids so that I can look super cool and creative and take all the credit... heh heh heh.

I love these!!!! Did you come up with the idea?? They are adorable & so very nifty.

You know I would!! But, there's that pesky airfare thing! I love those invites! Much better than froofy, glittery, flowery things you normally see.

Shit. You are organized.

I loooooooove these! Oh my! Just amazing. Mike and I made our own invitations as well. Have a bottle of wine chilled for the MINUTE you are done (trust me). Also, instead of stencils, what about stamps for the initials? Most scrapbook stores have large stamps (or try paper-source.com). You could always print the letters too (although possibly too hard if your printer isn't equipped for special paper settings, etc.). The quote: lovely! The mention of dancing shoes: adorable! Make sure (as I'm positive you've thought of) to make an extra for your scrapbook. xoxo

It is going to take me at least 10 months to get my head around the idea that your name is Cindy. I would get the JC part printed at a printshop. That way no smudgies.

Beautiful! And I love your quote too.

Aww, Cindy (I'm so glad I can use your real name on here now, lol!), those are GORGEOUS! You are so talented!! LOL @ the fingerprint! Hey...wanna send some of them to me to do? I'm on the couch in pain so often, I wouldn't mind! I'm going to shoot you an email about something that struck me on your invitation (can't share it "out loud"). Love 'Ya!

Dave - That's awesome. I posted pictures of my lace...now you post yours. It's only fair. Jess - I still love that idea. I might have to try something like that!!Jenifer - See, I LOOOVE doing stuff like this. I'm actually nearly done with them and I'm getting a little sad that I don't have a thousand things all over the floor. :)Mommiebear - Not really. I saw some things here and there all over the net and just put it all together myself. I didn't design the folders or the corset thing...but I did make them myself if that counts. ;)Adena - exactly why I wanted to do them myself. I couldn't find many that I actually liked. I'm going to love mine. :)Kristen - It's sickening, isn't it?? You should see everything I've already done. Heh.Jennie - OMG. LOOOVE Paper Source. Thank you so much!! I bought the stamps!Suebob - it looks strange to even me. I'm Chase, dammit.Mothergoosemouse - thank you!! I love the quote so much. It's so cheesy and corny and true.Katfish - thank you! We're paying for everything ourselves, so we have to save money where we can. But it's so much fun, I'd prolly do them anyway! :)Dinky - LOL Well, I'm having such a good time, I'm not LETTING the bridesmaids do anything. *blush*Hilly - thanks!! And, heck yeah...we're spending so much on the photographer and site that we have to save elsewhere! But those are both SO worth it!Kapgar - No...but it's a latin themed tango type wedding. And you can come if you bring your dirty S&M self. >:)Blondie - you like the fingerprint? You should see everything...I have black stuff ALL OVER the place! LMAO! I bought stamps to do the letters...so it'll be all good! ;)

You are scaring the CRAP out of me with all this wedding stuff. I just got started planning mine we are trying to do it in January. Good lord, girl. Slow down. Stop making me look bad. Oh and of course you're kissing right on the invite, slut.
Posted by Plunky at July 16, 2007 09:43 PM

love the invites. my hubby and I kinda sorta did it ourselves. we went to an office supply store and bought that realy pretty recyclable paper with the paper thin inserts. we printed everything ourselves. I forgot to tell you that your dress is absolutely gorgeous (kinda like mine) and I look forward to seeing the pictures next year.

I am now planning my wedding. Like just now. We are slated for 10/13/07. I am buying a house 8/27. And people back to the house after the reception. OH, and I have a 3-day work audit (8/13) to prepare for. Fuck - now you say there are inviations I have to get out???? Anyway - those are cute - and given my time contraints, I may be part of the DIY posse too. You might be getting an email from me!

I so feel you on the ivitations. I had an invitation week from hell a couple months ago. I didn't have the foresight to start working on them like in advance! ;-)

for some reason all I see is big white blanks. so um, yeah, it looks very simple and elegant.
