The Honeymooners
We've narrowed down the choices for the honeymoon to FOUR.  Four different beaches - four different hotels. No worries - each one has a bar nearby.  I made sure of it.

When Mr.Tango gets back from his business trip, we're going to go over each of them vrrry carefully and attempt to decide on just one.  I have no idea how this is even possible.

So check it out.  Give me feedback. Then get really, really jealous because it's on the in-laws' tab.

Option #1

St. Lucia  : Windjammer Landing Resort : 5 Stars

Option #2

Barbados  : The Crane  : 3 Stars (though I can't figure out why)

Option #3

Dominican Republic : Melia Caribe Tropical : 4 Stars

Option #4

Acapulco : Grand Mayan : 5 Stars

Which would YOU prefer, dear bloggies?

And don't say "ALL OF THEM!!!!!" because, um, I already tried that and the request was politely declined.

They're all REEEEALLY nice, but I think I like the Barbados one. Yeah, and I don't understand the 3 star thing, either.

I'm with option #2, too. Staying at a place called 'The Crane' just screams total BAD ASS.

They all look better than Tulsa. I've never been to Tulsa of course, but I doubt it looks much like these pictures.

Let me get this straight. This is your life right now, deciding between St Lucia, Barbados, Dominican Republic and Acapulco? I hate you. :) I didn't click links or do any research, but based solely on pictures and name I think I'd go with #3. Melia Caribe Tropical sounds hot.
Posted by doahleigh at July 19, 2007 07:53 AM

They all look lovely, and if I have to choose between them, I'd go for #3, It's all-inclusive (yay!)but it is a family resort....I'd be looking for an all-inclusive adult only resort for my honeymooon.....

We stayed at Windjammer Landing (#1) on our honeymoon! That was almost 7 yrs ago, but we had a great time. The villa was HUGE and I think all of them have their own little mini-pool. I wouldn't call it a 5-star property though. To me that means major luxury -- this was beautiful and comfortable but not like a snooty Ritz/4 Seasons kind of place. St. Lucia is beautiful and more visually interesting than Barbados (the only other place I've been) IMO--it has mountains & rain forest as well as the beach.

ummm, hello. mcfly. what happened to SEYCHELLES!!!??? i see how it is. i bare my soul (opinion) to you....and you spit in my face.

After looking at the websites, pictures, and amenities of all 4 places, personally, I would go with option #1. And I would try to get a room with a view of the ocean on the top floor. The beaches look absolutely fantastic there. Ah I am so jealous!

okay. we went to st lucia. we stayed at one of the sandals resorts there. it was all inclusive and that kicked ass. all you could drink pretty much all day and night long (until 3am).. and tons of food. it was SO nice to not worry about paying for meals. read= no purse to carry, no wallet to worry about, no tipping to calculate, no nothing. the cool thing with staying at a sandals was that there are 3 on the island and you can visit all of them. we stayed at the halcyon and visited the grande twice for dinner, and the regency once for dinner. now, for your honeymoon- it totally depends on what you're looking for. like there are amazing and gorgeous resorts all over st lucia that are super private and luxurious, etc. but we didn't want to be alone. i mean, we didn't want to be consumed in one another and have nothing else. we wanted to be able to make friends and party and go out. that's why sandals was great for us. we made friends, hung out, went on tours together, ate our meals together, etc. it was fun. but that's what WE wanted in our honeymoon. the halcyon was pretty mellow at night and i think at any sandals resort, you can make it as private, or as public as you want it to be. basically, if we went back to st lucia, we would stay at sandals again, but we would stay at the regency because we want MORE of a nightlife. we want more of a party and the halcyon didn't really have that. st lucia is a cool little island- there isn't tons to do, but i don't know what you want. i don't know if you want to lounge around and do nothing all day, or if you want to take tours and explore, etc....

ps- i wouldn't recommend staying at a place with kids for your honeymoon... sandals are adults and couples only. just a thought... i don't know if i would have liked to have a bunch of kids around- probably not because then i would have felt like i should have brought blake.. and also, i wanted to just lounge and deal with adults, not children...

ps-if you do choose st lucia and DO decide to go wtih a sandals, talk to me before you book anything.. there are millions of room types depending upon the resort, etc.. there are tons of resorts in st lucia too- the ladera is like the WORLDS premiere resort or something- i can't beleive where it is... it's right in between st lucia's piton mountains.. it's GORGEOUS and AMAZING, but totally private. seems ultra romantic, but not really FUN.. know what i mean?! there is also ti kaye in st lucia where everyone who has stayed there LOVES it and highly recommends it. but once again, i think it's ultra romantic, not necessarily fun. a good resource is on theknot.com... go to the message boards and you can read or post in the honeymoon board. you can ask about any resort, any location, etc. they have TONS of info! ALSO- something to think about is the whole kids thing. i see the resort you picked in st lucia allows kids and stuff. sandals is couples and adults only. no kids. i can't imagine having a bunch of kids and stuff on my honeymoon... especially if my kid isn't there, i don't want anyone's kid there. lol

omfg. LOL.. they weren't posting, i swear it. LOL

I know nothing about any of these places, but based on pictures alone, I'd go with #1 or #2 (#2 a bit ahead).

You don't need my opinion now. Jennster has it covered. So, yeah. Listen to her.

Rather than write a book, I'll email you. My vote is for the Dominican. We just honeymooned there in April. XO, Cindi
Posted by Cindi at July 20, 2007 09:28 AM

Oh, Dominican Republic totally. Mostly because if you want to actually leave the resort (which, lets be honest, you may NOT want to do) there are a TON of cultural things happening there. The poeple are really lovely and you won't feel scared to leave the fenced in resort area. (We hated that about our stay in Jamaica...felt like we couldn't leave the resort and we're into cultural stuff.) Plus, the island is GORGEOUS, the salsa music is always playing, and the mojitos flow like a river!!! It's...as close to heaven as one can get...

This is so unfair that I refuse to offer my opinion. ;-)

Simple, Dominican Republic. I just got back from there and it's great. You never need to leave your resort, the people are really nice and the economy is such that you can get a long way on a few hundred bucks of spending cash. I will give you another DR suggestion, Paradisus Palma Real. This is the resort I was at with my clients and it ROCKED!!!!!!!! Service was great and they made a wonderful Banana Mamma, some sweet fruity drink. Just a tip. --jesse

I say first or last. The stars could have something to do with the food or the service or the cleanliness or the bugs or the noise around the place. Go with a five star place. They ALL look beautiful.

Tick Tack. (Just wanted to say that, lol) Oh my gosh I am SO jealous! Hate, hate, hate!!! But I will be noble and put aside my jealousy and say that I'm torn between #1 and #4. Leaning more towards 4. And I'm just going by the photos....it looks gorgeous there!

St. Lucia. I can hide in the cargo hold.
Posted by Chanakin at July 22, 2007 07:23 PM

Where's Hawaii?? I like the look of number #1.
Posted by jessica at July 23, 2007 09:36 AM

St Lucia is highly recommended by a lot of people I know who travel frequently to lovely tropical beaches. But I think whatever you decide.... the company you keep will outshine the location you choose!

I am completely jealous! My big vacation this year is going to be a trip to disney with my husband and four kids. I see Jennster has you covered with actual advice, so I'll just say number 1 has my vote because it looks the most peaceful. My husband and I went to Couples in Jamaica just before my daughter was conceived (maybe it happened there????) and had a lovely time. They say "no kids are allowed in, but be careful because they do allow them out" and then they laugh. Bring extra birth control if you go there!

My hubby and I just returned from our Honeymoon. We went to Couples Swept Away in Negril Jamaica and had the BEST time. The resort is nice, the liquor is top shelf, the food is pretty dang fabulous and the water sports (except parasailing and jet skiing) are included. It was simply amazing! I can't comment on the ones you have listed here, but did I mention that we LOVED Couples Swept Away?
Posted by CindyDianne at July 23, 2007 01:46 PM

Based on those pics, I'd say St. Lucia. Though I really think you should come to Florida!
Posted by Karl at July 24, 2007 08:41 PM

Dominican Republic. Totally.
