Of Things I Wanna Make Out With

I have a long, sloppy list of things I want to make out with.  The menu at Cheesecake Factory is one of those.  So is the Kitchenaid mixer I got for my bday last year.  My fiance is on that list somewhere, too, of course, though his exact position on the list fluctuates because, HELLO, Cheesecake Factory!

My newest addition to the list is everyone involved with Hotwire.com.  I'm so freaking in love.

We are doing our big fat honeymoon for our one-year anniversary in Dominican Republic.  We've already discussed that, though.  So we were trying to decide on what we were going to do for a small, spend-as-little-money-as-we-can-because-this-wedding-shit-is-EXPENSIVE trip after the actual wedding.

After much whining and hair-pulling (and not in the good way), we decided to take a quick, 4-night trip to San Diego.  We were told to try Hotwire.com to find our hotels because they have awesome deals as long as you trust them because, uh, you don't know what hotel you're booking until you book it with no refunds available.

Scary, no?  Yeah.

But we tried it anyway, and the results made me wet my pants a little.

For the first 3 nights, we're staying at the Loews Resort on Coronado Island.  Seriously.  And for only $136 a night (the cheapest room there regularly is over $300 a night).

For the last night, we're staying at W San Diego.  Oh. My. God!   And for only $166 (regularly over $200 for the cheapest room).

So yeah. Make-out. Big time.

So tell me about San Diego.  Know of any restaurants we have to hit up?  What about special beaches in the area?  Cool local attractions not on the visitor's guide?

Ok, first of all, Dooce is there this weekend, I'm sure she'll have a full report in a couple days. Second. Dog Beach. There are half a dozen dog beaches and dog parks which are totally fun. Third. Sushi. San Diegans don't mess around with their sushi. DH and I went to San Diego for our cheap three-day honeymoon. We went to Sea World, and did the dolphin enteraction (put on a wetsuit and ask a dolphin to give you a high five, and a hug etc). Totally play up the fact that this is your honeymooon at the hotel, see if they'll offer champaign and chocolate covered strawberries as room service. Crowles peak is a good short hike (less than an hour up hill, then you get a GREAT view of all of San Diego). Have fun!

I love San Diego. But really, even though everyone mentions the zoo and Sea World they are two of the most fabulous places on earth. I could live in that zoo. If you have the money/time, it's worth mingling with the rest of the tourists. ENJOY!

Well of course you should stop by the SD Zoo if you haven't been there before because... well, I think there's a law about that or something. I thought Porpoise Bay was kinda neat and there's some great restaurants right there too. Now, quit making out and GET A ROOM!

You must go to Oceanside and get a carne asada burrito from Colimas. Cream in my pants. Yums. Of course, it's been 7 years since I have lived there, so it could very well be closed or something. But yeah, eat some good ass Mexican food while you're there. The real shit from the 24 hour drive thru joints.
